Travelling at 60, 75, or beyond — or heading south for the winter? You can still get emergency medical coverage up to $5M on eligible Canadian Traveller plans. A short Medical Questionnaire sets your price, not your eligibility.

How the Medical Questionnaire works
If you’re 60 or older, TuGo uses a short Medical Questionnaire to set your premium. It’s used to price the policy rather than to refuse you on age alone, and travellers 59 and under don’t need one at all. Answer it carefully — accuracy is what protects your coverage at claim time.
Eligibility, questionnaire rules and limits are defined by the policy wording and can change — confirm the current terms before you rely on them.
Stability periods by age
On the Traveller plan, a pre-existing condition must be stable (no change to symptoms, medication, or treatment) for a set period before departure:
Stability rules differ by product and can change — the Visitors to Canada plan uses different periods. Confirm the current figures in the policy wording. See the pre-existing conditions & stability hub.
Coverage Security — the $15,000 safeguard
Some insurers void the whole policy over an honest mistake on the medical questionnaire. On eligible TuGo plans, a discrepancy instead triggers a $15,000 deductible rather than denying the claim outright — so a good-faith error doesn’t automatically erase your coverage. Confirm the exact Coverage Security terms in the policy wording.
Multi-Trip Annual plans for snowbirds
If you travel more than once a year, a Multi-Trip Annual plan covers repeat trips up to a set per-trip length on a single annual policy — often better value than insuring each trip on its own. It’s a common fit for snowbirds who winter south and take additional short trips through the year. Compare it against a single long-stay policy in your quote.

How much does it cost?
There’s no fixed price. Premiums depend on your age, the coverage amount, the trip length (or annual vs single trip), your deductible, and any pre-existing conditions assessed in the questionnaire. Get an exact figure from a quote.
